The Rest of the Cabins

I cannot remember the names of the various cabins from here on, but here are some nice pictures of those cabins.

I'm trying to capture the joinery visible on the top of this dresser.

This piece of furniture is called a "settle".  It was used cozy up in front of the fire place.  The high back would reflect the warmth forward.

Another view of the joinery on the top of this dresser.

This is a side view of the same dresser.    I thought the design of this stool was clever:

A pioneer apron.

A charming cradle.

A pioneer dress.

Scissors, hobbles, and a brand HB.  HB corresponds to the name of the cabin, if only I could remember what it was.

These school desks were made by a local resident as a donation.

These are some of the "Mercedes" wagons on site.  (We jokingly called them that because they came from Germany.

There are also several Conestogas on site.

This cabinet or hutch is called a "Hoosier".  Was it a style that was popular in Indiana?

A closeup of the flour bin in the "Hoosier."
The flour sifter at the bottom of the four bin in the "Hoosier".

Pioneer children's clothing.

A butter churn.
What do you suppose the high back on this chair is?

It is a table!  Isn't that clever!

Looking at the cabins from the north as the sun sets.   The red rock cliffs in the distance make an incredible setting.

An old plow at the fort.
